About us

The first important date on our agenda for the New Year was 14 January at 11 am. We made our way to the snow-covered Olympic Village in the sunshine and wintry cold to accept the invitation of our new President, Susanne Pfisterer-Haas, to the New Year's reception.

Our generous hostess spoilt us with champagne, pastries and soups all round. We chatted and laughed and celebrated the start of a new, soroptimist year together in a cheerful atmosphere.

Many thanks to the team "Pfisterer-Haas & Haas"

Christmas Party 2023

Our Christmas party began like any other - with delicious food, lively conversation and lots of laughter.

In between, however, there was also a festive element.

The first item on the agenda was the induction of our new club sister Sabine. It is always a moving moment when a new club sister is accepted into our community. We see it as a gift and celebrate this moment with a festive candle ceremony.

Then came the moment of the handover of office to the newly elected board. The outgoing board said goodbye and officially handed over the reins of the club to the new board.

Later, there was a not-so-easy Christmas puzzle to solve, which our club sister Veronica had put together

The celebration took place in a cheerful and warm atmosphere. It was a lovely way to celebrate the festive season and at the same time usher in the transition to a new phase of club life.

Club meetings

We meet regularly on the fourth Tuesday of every month for our club meeting to exchange ideas, learn new things, expand our knowledge and maintain our friendships.

We usually listen to lectures and reports on a wide variety of topics, both from club sisters and external guests. As we all have different backgrounds, the following exchanges always result in exciting discussions and new insights.

An important point is also the joint organisation of our activities and projects for women worldwide.l

Networking & Cooperations

Soroptimist International is a worldwide community of women.

Since 1948, Soroptimist International (SI) has had consultative status as an NGO of the ECOSOC, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, and has women representatives at the following UN sub-organisations in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Paris: WHO, UNHCR, ECOSOC, UNIDO, ILO, UNEP, UNESCO and UNICEF.

SID (Soroptimist International Deutschland) is a member of the German Women's Council. Many clubs are involved in state and local women's councils. Our club, for example, is a member of the Bavarian State Women's Council, which actively supports women.

Regular visits and exchanges with partner clubs at home and abroad result in long-lasting friendships, joint projects and new, unfamiliar insights into foreign ways of life. This is usually very impressive and enriching.

Activities

With shared activities such as working on social and socially relevant projects, our regular club meetings, excursions, organising lectures, cultural tours or other events, we broaden our own horizons, foster our friendships with each other, and try to improve the conditions for a self-determined life of women here locally and worldwide.

To improve the realisation of our projects, we have founded a support association:

Soroptimistische Hilfe München-Schwabing e.V.

Close by and worldwide -

we are part of a great movement!

SI unites women from all continents, cultures and professions to work for the improvement of living conditions for women and girls worldwide and to contribute to a better global understanding.

With its worldwide network of over 2,900 clubs with approximately 70,000 members in 118 countries, Soroptimist International offers its members a unique forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience.

There are five federations under the umbrella organisation Soroptimist International:

Soroptimist International of the Americas, Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland, Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific, Soroptimist International of Europe and Soroptimist International Africa.

SI Europe (SIE) includes about 1,166 clubs with about 31,500 members in 43 countries.
Soroptimist International Deutschland (SID) currently consists of 224 clubs with over 6,700 members in eight districts.

Club sisters around the world meet at local club meetings, national and international events and mutual visits. Here, encounters develop into friendships that often last a lifetime.

For all Club Sisters, the meetings and exchanges with other Club Sisters worldwide are unforgettable experiences.
